Nestled in the heart of Dudley, Massachusetts, Dudley Hill Golf Club is a historic course designed by the renowned architect Devereux Emmet. Since 1926, our course has provided golfers with a classic and challenging layout, representing the Golden Age of golf course design.
Dudley Hill Golf Club was designed by one of the most famous golf architects of the early 20th century, Devereux Emmet. Emmet was born in Pelham, New York on December 11, 1861.
A talented golfer in his own right, Emmet made the quarter-finals of the 1904 British Amateur and won the Bahamas Amateur at the age of 66. He began designing golf courses in the 1890s and designed an astonishing 150 throughout his career.
Most of the courses he designed are in the state of New York. Others can be found in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
In 1925, Horatio N. Slater, then president of the S. Slater & Sons Co., commissioned Emmet to design Dudley Hill Golf Club. The result was a scenic yet demanding layout that continues to test golfers of all skill levels. Emmet’s signature design philosophy—wide fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and challenging greens—makes Dudley Hill a true gem in New England golf.
